I got some surprise books this week and then I ended up going to Goodwill and the library and managed to not grab six thousand books!! It’s amazing!! It’s my last Stacking the Shelves post of the year, how crazy is that thought???
For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you may remember that I reviewed Finding Neverland by Audrey Greathouse earlier this year. I’m super excited to say that I was asked to review the second book in this remake of the classic Peter Pan by the author herself! I’ve been told this one is just as fast paced and is picking up speed as it goes along. I love supporting die authors who do most of their own publishing and I’m super excited to read this one as well! Check out my review here of the first book in the series which I still highly recommend. The second book, The Piper’s Price, will be released in February 2017.
So, I haven’t been very good at the whole getting books back to the library thing, but they still seem to be willing to lend me books…probably because each time I go in I owe them like $2 or something… I have an issue with returning things on time. And by have an issue I mean they ride around in my car with me for a good few days after they are due racking up 10-cents-a-day late fees. Yet, I still go back. Anyway, I found this and couldn’t resist. I’ve been a big fan of Jay Kristof ever since reading his Stormdancer series (ok, the first one, but I LOVED IT) and this one is equally as promising sounding. A city of assassins?? Sign me up please!!
I have been a fan of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys since I was first starting to read. When I was contacted in reference to reading this book, I couldn’t say no when I noticed the comparison to Nancy Drew and Pippy Longstockings. Basically, Kitty Hawk, our protagonist, decides to spend the summer in Alaska studying humpback whales. While there, she finds herself caught up in some local schemes involving stolen gold, curses, shipwrecks, and criminals. Not to mention she’s a pilot and a teenager. Why is it these teens can always do super awesome things that I never thought I’d be able to do?? I want their lives so bad!!
I’ve been hearing about this book and about Janey Evanovich for a very long time but haven’t read any of her books. I don’t think this was the original one I was looking for, but it still looks pretty good. The summary is very brief and mentions an ex-cop, New Jersey, gangbangers, and an unexpected mystery. It sounds pretty good and quick probably? I’m not sure, but I can always go for more mystery books in my life! Short summary, but this book is back from 2006, so nothing new here to see, except theres HOW MANY books in this series? Did you say 24?
Yea…so this one was right next to the first one on the shelf and Goodwill and I couldn’t say no. So now I have the first two books in the series in well-loved paperback form. I know just as much about this one as I do about the first one but I still want to give it a try and see what comes of it! I did learn that apparently our main character is a bounty hunter?? That’s pretty dang awesome!!
