I’ve been true to my plan and kept my book buying and review requesting to a minimum and am concentrating on attempting to finish the books that I have because there are waaaay too many of them for me to have a clear conscience about it. Ignoring that long sentence now and moving on! I only got a few books over the past two weeks, and honestly, one I read as soon as I got it and the review should already be up.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I’m a bit late on getting this book since it’s been all over for quite a while now, but it was actually on sale at my local Target. I’ve heard such good things about this book and I really can’t wait to read it. I don’t know much about what the book is about, but I’m really okay with that. However, I will say that I did get ahead of myself and look at some of the art, and oh my gods guys!! The art is go beautiful and wonderfully done. This book is gonna be creepy isn’t it? I’m kinda really excited!
Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Lost Innocence, Modern Day Slavery, and Transformation by Barbara Amaya
I honestly don’t read a lot of memoirs, but I was auto-approved for this publisher on NetGalley and as I was looking at their books this one I just couldn’t bring myself to pass up. This is a memoir about Ms Amaya and her journey from an abusive household to days on the street as a junkie and prostitute to becoming an inspiration in the fight against child abuse and human trafficking. This is one of my first jumps into this type of terrible world truth, as I read more about historical wars rather than modern issues, but there are things about out world that just need to be known and I think this book serves as an inspiration to all who read it. After read note: Please read, it made me cry and it’s something that needs to be brought out into the world.
